Haydn: Symphony No. 40 in F Major Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart. Recorded April 20, 1948, in EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, on Gramophone Company 78-rpm matrices 2EA 12935 through 12938. Issued as HMV DB 6823 and DB 6824. This would appear to be Beecham's only recording of an early Haydn symphony, indeed of any Haydn symphony besides Nos. 93-104, the “London“ symphonies (all of which he recorded, some more than once).
