Before 1947 | 500 Years Old Profession Manual Work Bamboo Chick | Purana Bazar Hosiery Ludhiana

Before partition in Ludhiana Punjab both Hindu & Muslim community was habitant of this city the government language was Urdu & English. In that time mostly Muslim Community used to hang bamboo chick at their threshold doors. The bamboo chick is made by mostly by Hindu community that is called BHANJRA Bradary. After India Pakistan Partition Muslim left this city and refugee who came from Pakistan settled in Ludhiana. The bamboo chick profession continued after 1947 in Ludhiana. But after 1970 this profession started to lose and now some people also like to hang bamboo chick in their residence. But some families in Purana Bazar till today make bamboo chick. Most of them started hosiery business and rented their property to hosiery shopkeepers. At last this traditional business of India now is near to end. #banboochick #before1947 #ludhianahosiery
