In this video we take a look at what went into making the short “Writer's Block“. This video is a little different from most of our videos as it is more of a lecture. We will go through the entire process from the storyboard to the final video. We used DaVinci Resolve and Fusion for editing and the compositing. And used Houdini, 3D Coat, PF Track and Metashape to help with the 3D assets. As always if you have any questions feel free to reach out in the comments. **VFX Courses** - And if you like our videos please consider subscribing! **Timestamps** 0:00 Intro/Overview 0:27 Storyboard / Technical issues 2:41 Shooting for the VFX 2:50 Shooting the flickering light 3:41 Shooting for 3D Tracking 4:22 Shooting for the hand off of the lightbulb box 6:22 Setup for VFX Comps 7:23 Prepping images for Photogrammetry 8:55 Metashape Making the Head Mesh 9:54 Prepping Our Head Scan in Houdini for 3D 11:00 Modeling the Inside of the Head in 3D Coat 13:08 Geometry Track in PFTrack 14:35 Rendering the Inside of the Head in Houdini 17:57 Basic Comp Setup for all the Head Inserts in Fusion intro 18:25 Bringing in our renders from Houdini 18:49 Adding the flickering light inside the head 20:08 Adding the guy inside the head 24:45 Compositing over original plate 25:05 Cleaning up the shadows from the Houdini render 26:32 Taking the lightbulb box off the screen intro 27:09 Screen patch 28:49 Adding in the lightbulb box 32:00 Compositing over original plate 32:40 Additional paint fixes 33:06 Handing the lightbulb box off to the inside of the head 33:20 Cleaning up and positioning the hand 35:04 Bringing in the Houdini render 35:43 Adding in the guy inside the head 37:03 Compositing over original plate 37:17 Adding in the lightbulb box 39:56 Animating the lightbulb box 41:11 Final touches #prophetless #davinciresolve #blackmagicfusion
