We couldn't think of a better way to start off the year than to share a video with the man who started it all, Jon Petersen. Dad had the idea to become a family bluegrass band, bought us all our instruments, and signed us up to perform wayyyyy before we were ever ready haha. He and mom would sing us to sleep as little kids and “In You Came“ was heard most nights in the Petersen household. Hope you all are blessed by it! For everyone asking about Papa P's guitar, it is a 12-string (reverse-strung) Taylor 652ce, which he is fingerpicking, so plucking rather than strumming. The strings are in pairs, each an octave apart, and it takes some skill to play both at once but it gives such a beautiful sound. ►Buy or stream the album ►Our band story Dad's bio Clip: Dad sold his sports car to buy a ring ►More bedtime songs: Stay Awake Today ----------------------- ►Useful links: YouTube About page Most asked questions Join our Patreon community Subscribe to our channel Sign up to our email list Get It Mama Fan Club Branson tickets Buy or stream our music ►Social media: Instagram Facebook TikTok @petersenband Twitter Band members Go behind the scenes with @ThePetersenFamily ►This video: Lead vocal & cross-picking guitar: Jon Petersen (dad) Harmony vocal & bass: Karen Petersen (mom) Fiddle: @katiepetersen (sibling #1) Harmony vocal & banjo: @EllenHaygood (sibling #2) Rhythm guitar: @mattpetersen4000 (sibling #3) Mandolin: @JuliannePetersen (sibling #4) Dobro: Emmett Franz (our good friend, who is like family now) Key moments: 0:01 12-string guitar 0:22 Dad singing 1:04 Mom harmony 2:30 fiddle 2:54 dobro 4:07 mandolin 4:38 outro Venue: The Ozark Mill restaurant at Finley Farms Video: Opening speech Video: New spaces opening Turn on captions (CC) to see the lyrics on screen. But in You came with Your arms open wide Bringing back the rainbow after the rain Bringing back the sunshine once again I've often wondered why You want me With all of my problems, child fantasies All that I've done, who I am And now and then I will cry Knowing how I've hurt You time and time again Really wouldn't blame You if You leave But still You're there with Your arms open wide Asking nothing of me, just of myself You put the past behind me and then in You came And I know now why You stay Walking there beside me through thick and thin Always there to guide me on my way You're always there with Your arms open wide Always there to turn to when times are sad Giving me a smile to make me glad in You came * About a relationship with Jesus ►The Petersens: We celebrate American roots music with family values, and perform full time in Branson, Missouri in the USA. The band consists of four siblings, Katie, Ellen, Matt, and Julianne, our mom Karen, and good friend Emmett Franz.
