President Macron has refused to accept the resignation of his prime minister - instead urging him to stay on for the sake of stability. The left-wing coalition, known as the New Popular Front, led by Jean-Luc Melenchon, has come first with 180 seats. President Macron's centrist Ensemble has come second with 159 seats.
