Chess fever (Шахматная горячка) is a short film from 1925 made by Vsevolod Pudovkin: It was based on a screenplay written by Nikolai Spikovskij. A young man is so obsessed with the game of chess that he neglects his fiancée until he meets World Champion José Raúl Capablanca (who plays himself in the film). In the opening sequence (2:29) we find a practical example of the theories of Lev Kulešov (Pudovkin's teacher), thanks to the way the director edits the images, he makes us believe for a moment that we are witnessing a match between two players. A Chess Fever was released on December 21, 1925, in Moscow. #Pudovkin #CheesFever This Channel is intended to be a Free Video Library for all those interested in the History of Cinema and for all those who want to understand the origins of its wonderful language.
