The original legendary lineup of Zephyr, Candy Givens, Tommy Bolin, David Givens, John Faris and Bobby Berge (who had replaced Robbie Chamberlain on Tommy's urging) broke up in late 1971. Tommy was pulled by his early childhood conditioning of “becoming a star like Elvis“ had left to form his first solo band Energy. It was time. But in 1972, Tommy was more interested in “Heavy Metal Jazz Fusion“ than radio airplay. His “manager“ Barry Fey was incapable of finding him a supportive record company home. It was a challenge and Fey had never been a manager. He was a promoter first who constantly was feeding his need for cash flow to feed his rampant gambling addiction. Human relations and artist development were not his specialty. So by 1973 Tommy was broke! Marty Wolff, a visionary Boulder concert promoter approached the band (he had been one of their first supporters) about a few reunion dates. This one from Art's Bar and Grill (now apartments) had Marty making a great recording on reel to reel. In the late 90's, TBA worked out a deal with David Givens to release it on CD. We developed an amazing booklet and we were able to put it out. We should work out the details for releasing it again. This is a non monetized repost to help support this great music made by 5 gifted and inspired musicians who made Boulder proud. Then and now.
