A three-meter high slate monument with the inscription LENIN was erected on the day and year of his death at the entrance to the Verkhny Fiagdon village. Although it is believed that the first monument to V.I. Lenin was erected on January 22, 1924 in Noginsk near Moscow, but as you can see, the date on the monument in Fiagdon is January 21, 1924 ... so one day earlier. And now we have, in my opinion, the most impressive monument of antiquity in Ossetia - the ancient rock fortress of Dzivgis. The ancient Ossetian village of Dzivgis is located on the left bank of the Fiagdon River, at the very beginning of the Kurtatinsky Gorge. Here in the XIII-XIV century this fortress was built - one of the most famous and amazing sights of North Ossetia. The fortress almost merges with the rock, and if you do not know about its existence, it is quite possible that you will pass by and not even notice it. The Dzivgis complex looks like a single whole with the “mother“ mountain Kariu-hokh. The communication between the separate parts of the fortress was made with the help of wooden hinged bridges... Something like this... When necessary, the boards were removed, and the fortress became completely impregnable. According to legend, on the walls of Dzivgis there are still traces of the cannonballs of the Persian Shah Abbas the Great, who at the beginning of the 17th century failed to conquer the fortress, which stood in his way during the Persian invasion of the North Caucasus. However, there are much earlier sources in which the rock fortress of Dzivgis is mentioned. Thus, in the Book of Victories of Sheref-ad-Din Yazdi (early 15th century), which describes the campaign of Tamerlane to Alania, an impregnable rock fortress in the gorge is mentioned, which territorially coincides with the present Kurtatinsky. The leopard has been hiding in the Kadargavan gorge on a huge boulder stuck between the rocks. The figure of the leopard is covered with mirror plates that reflect the sky and the surrounding rocks, hiding the predator. You can see it only when you approach him. Please pay attention to the natural bridge - a stone that is stuck between two rocks. From the village of Gorny Kartsa, the so-called ecological path winds along the picturesque Kartsinsky Gorge for 350 meters. The path is ecological, but as you walk along it, a whole different vocabulary is on the tip of your tongue ... Enchanted forest, the ring of omnipotence ...
