In my own teenage years, working as a film maker and photographer, I have watched the development of an increased reliance on online status across the generations. Counter Culture: The Curse of Online Status scrutinizes the importance given to our quantifiable presence in the virtual world. Are these platforms so beneficial or are they a way of inhibiting creative processes in a gilded cage of so called reality? My film presents documentary footage of young, dynamic individuals working in the creative industries alongside the views of experienced professionals working within the fashion business and universities. The immediacy of my own exposure to the working world has also led me to question the rehashing of the past in the promotion of popular culture and consumerism.
