Harmonies in Time is a deep collaboration between master Trilok Gurtu and Castle in Time Orchestra, a 24-instrument ensemble. The piece researches different time forms, prehistory in music, and the relationship between a soloist as an individual and the rest of the tribe. It translates Indian compositions (Kaida) that were written for the human voice and the Tabla percussion instrument, into orchestral instruments. It contains complex polyrhythmic sequences, electro-acoustic textures, and “Soundpainting” sign language as a way to communicate and create in real time. The result is 80 minutes of an unusual collaboration between cultures and generations. Was premiered at the “Mekudeshet“ Festival 2017.
