Thank you :) This interpretation gets the highest score for several reasons. Pierre Fournier is the great lord, the richness of his tone, of his “elegant and aristocratic“ sonorities reach the sublime in the slow movement. The sound recording, magnificent, exalts the depth of his phrasing. George Szell, what a conductor! We remember his direction of Brahms' first piano concerto with C. Curzon (). He is definitely the ideal accompanist. We have rarely heard such an osmosis between conductor and soloist. With Dvorak, the writing for the woodwind section is important and the Czech Philharmonic is renowned for its woodwinds. Here the Berlin Philharmonic sounds like the Czech Philharmonic, the woodwinds are magnificent and the strings soft yet incisive. One of the recordings to take to a desert island. There is a lot to say about this wonderful interpretation but we leave some for you!
