Soprano Renata Tebaldi possessed one of the most beautiful voices of the 20'th century. Her peak vocal years were during the 1940s and 1950s. She is also remembered for the feud between her and other soprano legend Maria Callas. She would later comment that people should really not have compared their voices because they were really completely different. Callas was a dramatic soprano, whereas Tebaldi considered herself essentially a lyric soprano. However, she did reflect that it generated publicity and interest in Opera. “Ellen's Third Song“, better known as “Ave Maria“ was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825. It has become one of Schubert's most popular works, recorded by a wide variety and large number of singers. Even though this work is probably the most overplayed piece of music on the planet, when I heard Tebaldi's version I almost felt like crying. Enjoy! Thanks For Your Comments.
