Back in 2002, I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Sydney with a very good friend and mentor, Mick Gardiner, in his custom-built one-of-a-kind 1965 S model Kenworth powered by a 600hp Detroit 12V71TA. Both Mick Gardiner and the Seattle Star are legendary in Australian trucking. Here we are leaving Port Kembla in NSW with a load of plate steel bound for Melbourne. The video starts with the Seattle Star climbing Mt Ousley and Mick shuffling a few gears. You can hear the Horton fan cutting in and out as we ascend. Then we go through Wilton and later you'll see the Seattle Star pulled up at a parking bay in Victoria. I was very lucky to have been offered a drive during this trip. I'm one of only a handful to have driven this truck when Mick owned and worked it. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for watching.
