The summer 2020 Arctic Sea Ice melt season has been summarised in 1 second (covering June, July & August). The orange line is the long term average. A savage summer of heat in the Arctic has taken 2020 to the second lowest sea ice extent on record. At the end of August, the sea ice extent approached the record low levels. 2020 and 2012 are the only years on record to dip below 4 million square km extent. In short, we have lost an enormous amount of ice. Data is from ECMWF ERA 5 Reanalysis.
