Visit Visit our website Exotic Bali is a color travelogue copyrighted in 1954 by Castle Films. Castle Films, a home video distributor in California, was founded by Eugene W. Castle in 1924. It became part of United World Films, Inc., in 1947. This films photography was by Myron Zobel and shows the way the people of Bali is an island and province of Indonesia. Bali women climb an island hill with items on their heads (0:17-0:39). Men working in the Rice Paddy (0:40-1:03). A man carrying his load down the road on a crossbar (1:04-1:12). The rice harvest (1:13-1:16). Busy women pounding the rice to thrash it (1:17-1:28). Women also separate the rice from the chaff (1:29-1:35). The Bali market place (1:43-1:56). A cock fight keep the men entertained (1:57-2:10). A Bali funeral procession showing the women in their festive attire (2:11-2:22). A Bali god, Bantam, carried to the cremation (2:23-2:29). A funeral ceremonial dance called the Monkey Dance that reenacts the ancient tale of Ramayana, found in an ancient Indian epic poem, showing the struggle between good and evil (2:30-2:37). Rava and Ravana duel for Sita’s soul, the battle of good and evil (3:39-4:31). The monkey’s help win the battle (4:31-4:42). The people now believe they have pleased their god (4:43-4:59). Temple pyramids of food, used as offerings given to their gods, carried on their heads (5:00-5:29). Women dressed up and on their way to the temple (5:38-5:47). A Gamelan, a Bali instrument (5:48-5:50). Balinese Barong Dance, a drama between good and evil, where the dragon, Barong, is the spirit of good and evil is overpowered (5:57-6:39). The Legong ballet Dance (6:45-8:00). Known as “Global Zobel“ because of his epic travels, film producer Myron L. Zobel was a native of Los Angeles who later moved to Palm addition to his film producing. he was an author, having I written three books. His last was “Global Cuisine.” dealing with recipes of famous restaurants he had visited around the world. His other books were “Fourteen-Karat Trailer” and i “Benvinido Cellini.” During World War II, Zobel was a civilian employee of the radio division of the Bureau of Ships. He developed the controlled material plan under which all products using copper, steel and aluminum were made.
