Modern Biology's plant and mushroom based music has been viewed 10s of millions of times on TikTok and featured by Vice, The Verge and Genius. To create this Earth Day single, the Vancouver-based musician and biologist brought his modular synth rig into the forest near his house and collaborated with a mushroom - using the bioelectricity of the organism to trigger note changes in the synth. The resulting downtempo piece is bright, playful, almost psychedelic - and surprisingly catchy - and meant to bring our attention to the importance of preserving the natural world.
