Fused Mullite is a synthetic material composed of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and silicon dioxide (SiO2). It is produced through a high-temperature fusion process where a mixture of alumina and silica is heated to around 1800 to 2000 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat causes the raw materials to melt and react, resulting in the formation of mullite crystals. Mullite is a mineral with the chemical formula 3Al2O3·2SiO2, and it occurs naturally in certain types of rocks and clay minerals. Fused Mullite has similar properties to its natural counterpart but is produced in a controlled environment, resulting in a more consistent and uniform material. Fused Mullite has excellent thermal stability, high strength, low thermal expansion, and good chemical resistance. It is known for its exceptional refractory properties, making it suitable for various high-temperature applications.
