The soil monolith reference collection of Belgium comprises ca. 120 unique soil profiles taken by Belgium Centre for Soil Mapping, a permanent loan from the ISRIC World Soil Museum (Wageningen University, NL) and new entries from Belgian geo-heritage soils. The collection is housed at the Geo-Institute, under the curatorship of Em. Prof. Seppe Deckers; Prof. Karen Vancampenhout and other colleagues from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The collection is used for educational purposes at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, but has also been the subject of many exhibitions and events.
