'Ocean Dream' Making Process | Mermaid Clay Sculpture

This is a collaboration piece with my artist friend Dan Lam. Check out her work ‣ After our first collab in 2017, we talked about doing another one. But we were both busy in 2018 so we postpone it to this year. It's been a longgg process. Dan sent me her piece back in August. I started the making process in mid-October and just finished it a few days ago. When I saw Dan's work in person, I had a vision of the mermaid resting her arms on the drippy pink coral, but I couldn't quite figure out how to execute the idea. When I finished sculpting the mermaid, I came up with the concept of using waves to support her tail. It turned out exactly like how I imagined (ugh I wanna cry)!
