I loved painting this piece! I'm so angry about the gap in the filming. (I'll get this video thing figured out some day). This is going to be framed as a wall piece, most likely. It's the same process used in my tarot/altar cloths. I use a water-based resist (also called gutta) to draw the outlines as the first step, and then mix colors of silk dyes and use sumi brushes to paint in the colors.
