Former BBC presenter Carol Vorderman has claimed that “Conservatives at the top” of the corporation forced her out. She announced in November 2023, that she was leaving BBC Radio Wales, because she could not abide by the corporation's guidelines which asks presenters to remain apolitical on social media. Vorderman is a regular criticiser of the Conservative Party especially on X (formerly Twitter) which she believes contributed to her departure. Rebecca Ryan, Campaign Director at Defund the BBC, thinks Vorderman is “so far off the mark“ to think the BBC is being run by Conservatives. She asks: “Has anyone done a welfare check on Carol? Because she seems to have completely lost the plot.“ Julia Hartley-Brewer questions if it’s a perfectly reasonable thing to be asked if you are working for the state funded broadcaster, to follow to these rules and that: “You don't go around being party political in the rest of your life.“ #carolvorderman
