This is the biggest Japanese cultural event outside of Japan. This year it is held on June 1st 2024. Japan Tag attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, otakus, manga fans, and Japan lovers from all over the world every year. Here I am taking a walk from the beginning section at the Landtag building to the end of the event. This year, more than 650,000 visitors came to experience a diverse range of presentations and entertainment, such as traditional music and dance programs, karaoke and cosplay contests, manga stands, origami & calligraphy lessons, kimono fittings, karate shows, Japanese board games, and of course, delicious Japanese food such as ramen, karaage, and takoyaki. Japanese initiatives, associations and caterers were presenting themselves at around 90 stands on three stages along the Rhine embankment promenade up to the state parliament. For the first time, there was also parkour on the lower Rhine wharf, where visitors can try their hand at jumping, climbing and balancing on a so-called ninja course. The organisers have almost doubled the stage programme compared to the previous years. On these stages traditional culture, modern Japanese pop culture, and typical sports were presented. The crowning finale of Japan Day is the original Japanese fireworks display every year. This year, it started at around 11 pm and last around 25 minutes. Four years after the fireworks were originally planned, they can now be seen on Japan Day: Under the motto ‘Gold medals and golden rain over Düsseldorf: Olympic splendour from Tokyo to Paris’, the sky above the city was beautiful. I will upload my fireworks footage soon in another video. This 4K-HDR walking tour was recorded with high definition binaural audio. 🎧 For an even more immersive experience, be sure to put on your headphones. WATCH NEXT: 1.
