BORISLAV STRULEV AND FRIENDS - zooMMusic Talk Show - #19 RUSTEM GALICH Rustem Galich is an actor, producer, and the head of the Rustem Galich Theater of Poetry and Music. He graduated from the Maly Theater (Moscow) - Higher Theater School, Shchepkina branch “Actor of the artistic word“. For 12 years, he taught in the department of “Scenic Speech“ at the school in Shchepkin. He is a performer of Russian classical poetry and prose. A special place in the repertoire of the actor is occupied by programs dedicated to the period of the Silver and Golden Ages of Russian poetry. In Moscow, he worked as a host of television shows and radio programs, and also spoke with poetic programs in the Literary Cabaret. Since 2000 he has been living in New York. He is known to the Russian-language theater audience as the author and performer of literary and musical performances of Pushkin, Lermontov, Bunin, Pasternak, Yesenin, Mayakovsky and others. As an author and presenter, he became known to a wide audience on the broadcasts on Russian-language radio and television channels in New York. In 2005, he organized a “Theater of Poetry and Music of Rustem Galich“ in New York, under the aegis of which many talented performers of Russian-speaking New York of various genres stood. In the creative baggage of the theater there are a lot of musical and poetic programs, plays and hundreds of concerts played. The last work, called the press cultural event of Russian-speaking New York, staging the play “Demon“ on the poem Mikhail Lermontov. In recent years, the Rustem Galich Theater of Poetry and Music has significantly expanded its geography. Rustem Galich’s performances with great success were not only on the American continent, but also in the cities of Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Italy and other European countries. Among recent works in which Rustem Galich was not only the leading performer but also the producer, it is worth noting such works as: the program “1812“ dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the battle of Borodino, “Your acquaintance - Sergei Esenin“, “Singers of Estonia: Raymond Valgre and Igor Severyanin“ , “The Ball of Poets“. Currently, Rustem Galich continues to work on the international art project “And Paradise was Opened for Love“ based on Lermontov’s poem “The Demon“. The project was dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the great Russian poet. This performancehas been staged about 50 times, in different countries across the world. Rustem Galich participated in several productions of the Metropolitan Opera in operas “The Nose“ and “Boris Godunov“ for several seasons. Currently, the actor is touring the world with his musical and poetic programs and performances, popularizing the genre of artistic reading. Rustem Galich’s performances are characterized by the constant search for new forms in the combination of a poetic word with various genres of performing and visual arts - opera or choral singing, symphonic music, ballet, organ, romances, pictorial installations, documentary chronicles and so on. In addition to projects in which Rustem Galich realizes his performing potential, as a teacher in scenic speech, he conducts master classes in speech technology and the artistic word.
