This is Why Modding Matters

In reality this is a video about a car, and an odd car at that. But, this particular blip of a car caused me to rethink (or perhaps overthink) just what modding brings to the sim racing community. The aforementioned oddball can be found here: Assetto Corsa is as popular as ever, and arguably more popular than its focussed, modless successor. Of course, there’s more to that sustained success than just the mods. But, it’s hard to argue that the expansive lifespan of Assetto Corsa owes a significant amount to the modding community. In other news, it’s been a while, but I’m back. 2022 was a bit of a mess, but that’s all in the rear-view.
