On stage and on tape Bad Mary provokes a primal reaction, packing a potent punch with their unbridled energy. Bad Mary has played classic venues such as The Highline Ballroom, The Knitting Factory, Arlene’s Grocery, and The Bowery Electric. They have also taken part in The Vans Warped, The Dewey Beach Music Conference, Launch Music Conference and Festival, and Musikfest. In 2019 and 2023 they toured Japan and played to packed venues with a motley gang of local punk bands and came back to the states to play sold-out shows with the Dollyrots and Tsunami Bomb. As a live band they are totally engrossed in their art, playing, moving, dancing without restraint, and making sure everyone is having a fun time. This New York based band is not your typical line-up, the band features powerhouse lead vocalist Amanda Mac, with her husband Mike Staub on bass, her dad Bill Mac on drums, and her professor David Henderson on guitar. With their multi-generational dynamic, the band weaves rhythmic power and brain worm riffs as if it were 1979 all over again while interjecting their own fresh vibe. Drawing on influences from the likes of Blondie, The Ramones, Green Day, and The Dollyrots, this tight-knit unit uses humor and the power of music to push back on all the negativity going on in the world. Bad Mary holds up a warped mirror to the current culture and reminds us that having fun is the best way to give yourself an escape from the craziness. Choosing the DIY path, Bad Mary released their first album, 'Better Days' in 2014 and followed it up with three fast and loud EPs, 'Killing Dinosaurs' (2016), 'We Could Have Saved the World' (2016), and 'Glitter Bomb' (2017). In 2019 they delivered 'The Return of Space Girl', a 33-minute punk rock space opera, followed by an award-winning animated movie of the album. Diving into 2022 Bad Mary brought their distinctive fun-filled sound to the masses with the release of Rock and Roll Classics Vol. 6 and Vol 7 and an EP of all-new material 'Trash and Glamour' was released in 2023. In 2024, in celebration of its 10th anniversary Band Mary will release the 'Better(er) Days' EP, a collection of re-recorded and remixed versions of songs from their first album 'Better Days'. Their music has been showcased on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage, with “It’s All Trash” receiving the New Music Spotlight and both “It’s All Trash” and “Vibe-icide” earning the title of 'Coolest Song in the World' in 2023. Additionally, “Better Days“ was recently selected for both the New Music Spotlight and Coolest Song in the World. The band is also currently writing and recording new songs to be released in late 2024.
