Louis Corchia is one of France’s very popular musette accordionists and a bandoneon player. He came from a family of musicians, and his father was the accordionist Primo Corchia (1913-97). In 1951 Louis Corchia won the first CMA Trophee Mondial, held in London. The same year, he came second to Maurice Vittenet in the CIA Coupe Mondiale, held in Paris. Louis Corchia was a contemporary of Yvette Horner, Andre Verchuren, Marcel Azzola, Maurice Larcange, Aimable, and Joss Basselli, and is considered the last of his era's great players.
