Co-Production: CBC & Television One New Zealand In 1883 the waters around New Zealand were teaming with whales back in the whaling times. The Weller company owned by Weller Brothers of Sydney, was one of the leading firms employing many shore whalers and they were paid in goods while so waiting for the tea and rum to arrive the cry was “Soon May that Wellerman Come!“ The Wellermen, supplied provisions to New Zealand shore whaling stations from their base at Otakou.
