Oscar Peterson - Piano Count Basie - Piano Martin Drew - Drums Niels Pedersen - Bass BBC Footage Jumpin’ At The Woodside was first recorded in 1938 and became a signature tune of the Count Basie Orchestra. Written by Eddie Durham, the guitarist in the band and refined by Count Basie. Sadly Eddie had left the band when it was recorded. The original recording, released on 17th December 1938 featured solos by; Earle Warren (Alto Sax), Lester Young (Tenor Sax), Buck Clayton (Trumpet) and Herschel Evans (Clarinet) The location ‘Woodside’ refers to the Woodside Hotel in Harlem, a popular venue for jazz musicians.
