This unique lighter was found in Normandy at the sites of Allied battles with German troops. These events took place in June 1944, the so-called operation “Neptune“ (D-Day) - the opening of the second front by the allied forces of the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and others. More than 150,000 soldiers took part in this operation. Most likely, this lighter belonged to a military man from the USA. I think that the owner could be an officer. Lighters with state symbols were given as awards for military merit during the war. This rare antique brass lighter holds a piece of great history. I am glad to be able to restore this beautiful unique find. My task was to restore the surface to a shine and repair the damaged parts. The restoration process took a lot of time, as one of the critically damaged parts had to be manufactured. The surface must be restored with preservation of traces of use, so that the found thing does not lose its historical value and uniqueness. In my opinion, I coped with the work. What do you think?
