In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland shared how his new role in The Crowded Room, a psychological thriller series based on the true story of Billy Milligan, made him reflect on his own mental health and triggers. Holland plays Danny Sullivan, a fictional character inspired by Milligan, who was the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to having dissociative identity disorder (DID), formerly known as multiple personality disorder. Sullivan is arrested after a shooting at the Rockefeller Center in 1979 and is helped by investigator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) to prove his innocence and find the real culprit.
