“Evelyne Lenton has occasionally stated «The two singers who really influenced me are Ray Charles and Tina Turner. I have always been compared to Janis Joplin, I liked her very much, but she started after me!». She started her musical career at a young age with the French band “Evy“ (1963 - 1976), performing in the best rock and roll clubs in Paris. As being the only French rock singer, in 1965 she had the honour to perform as an opening act during the Paris tours of bands like “The Who“, “The Kinks“, “The Rolling Stones“, “The Animals“ and “The Beatles“. In the summer of 1976, when “Disco“ was at its peak, “Evelyne“ and her brother “Albert Weyman“ decided to follow the musical trend of the time, founding the Disco-Rock band “Belle Epoque“. They immediately stood out because of the strong vocals of “Evelyne“. They released only three full-length studio albums and ceased to exist in 1980. In 1982 he returned solo with the rock album “Operator“, but the circulation was so small that today it is a collector's item. The first track on the album “I Was Fine“ was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! It's in duration and apart from the powerfull vocals of “Evelyne“, the unidentified guitarist really delivers a lesson and puts the glasses on many famous guitarists of the time. The lengthy outro solo literally sets the fingerboard on fire. “I Was Fine“ flirts dangerously with the boundaries of hard rock and fully justifies “Evelyne's“ statement, “As a singer, I've always been a rocker“.
