Russell’s Viper is one of the most venomous snake in India. With deep yellow or brown ground body color and flattened head this venomous snake from Viperidae family is one of the big four snakes in India. It has large nostrils and big eyes. There is three series of dark brown spot which run throughout the whole body. This nocturnal terrestrial snake is also active during the day. Russell’s viper feeds on rodents, small lizards, small reptiles and sometimes crab or scorpions too. This one of the most deadly snake in the world has “Hemotoxic venom” which causes destruction of muscle tissue, circulatory system and causes swelling, necrosis and haemorrhage. Pain in the bite place is started immediately after envenomation, swelling is started just after that.
