The one-million strong Landless Workers Movement (MST) is a backbone of the Brazilian left, famous for its mass actions and radical land occupations all across the Brazilian countryside. While fighting agribusiness giants, the MST has become the largest producer of organic rice in Latin America, has a plan to plant 100 million trees to fight deforestation, while running its own schools and organizing whole communities in its settlements. BT News went to the deep south of Bahia state, the heart of black Brazil, to see the MST’s operations up close, to talk to its militants and to hear about their vision for an alternative model for Brazil, Latin America and the world. Production: Eugene Puryear, Matt Belen, Gabi Silva, Ben Becker Editing: Matt Belen Narration: Eugene Puryear Translation: Gabi Silva Color: Craig Birchfield Music: John Prysner Special thanks to: Cadu Souza of the MST in Bahia state
