🇷🇺 Today, Vladimir Putin attended the ceremony in St Petersburg to lay down the fifth nuclear-powered universal icebreaker, The Leningrad. Russia remains the only country in the world with a fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers. The construction of icebreakers is very important for the development of the Northern Sea Route. And the Northern Sea Route (Russia’s alternative to the Suez and Panama Canals) is switching to year-round operation. The route is 5,556 kilometres long. It is the shortest route between Western Europe and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Источник: Lord Of War
