Air Baltic & Ryanair Trip Report flying from Vienna to Stockholm (via Riga airport) on a nice spring morning over the whole Europe, except in Sweden, where it was snowing crazily, onboard one AirBaltic A220 and Ryanair Boeing 737MAX. A comfortable trip with AirBaltic and Ryanair from Vienna to Stockholm Arlanda. My initial plan was to fly direct from Vienna to Stockholm... but 2 weeks before the flight the airline that should take me there canceled it. At the same time, the flight from Vienna to Stockholm with Ryanair was already sold out, so the only option was to find a connecting one. Luckily, even though it was almost full, there was a Ryanair flight from Riga to Stockholm available, which I could book for just 50 euro. Then I found the AirBaltic option to Riga for around 195 euro. The first flight was on the AirBaltic A220-300 from Vienna to Riga. We departed from runway 34 in Vienna and quickly made a right turn towards Bratislava. From there we flew towards Poland, Lituania and Latvia; landing in Riga just a few minutes after the scheduled time of arrival. The connection at Riga airport was really easy. We didn't have to get out of the airside. Just had to wait for around 3 hours and we boarded our Ryanair flight to Stockholm Arlanda. This second flight was pretty straightforward: we took off, crossed the Baltic Sea towards Sweeden, and landed in Stockholm, where the biggest blizzard I've ever seen was acting during all day. Strong crosswind, heavy snow, and turbulence. I think you will enjoy it a lot! For the catering onboard, we decided to prebook the BBQ steak meal on the AirBaltic flight. A little overpriced in my opinion, but it was tasty. On the Ryanair flight, we purchased the lunch onboard. Both airlines have nice catering options: or a good pre-ordering system (AirBaltic) or a very extensive onboard menu (Ryanair). Others in Europe should learn from one of them (or both). Now it's your turn! Have you ever flown with AirBaltic? Maybe with Ryanair? How was the experience? Which route did you fly? Have you ever flown on an Airbus A220? What about the B737MAX?
