Thanks so much for the love on my last intermediate pattern. I have another intermediate pattern for you today which again uses double half hitch knots (DHHKs). If you are unfamiliar with how to tie the DHHK, please click here: The finished piece measures 7.5 inches long by 4 inches wide. Let’s get started. Set up - Cut 10 pieces of 3mm single strand twisted cotton string, each piece is 8 ft long. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots. Small Diamond Tie a double half hitch knot with the two middle cords. Working down and to the right tie 4 more DHHKs. Move back to the centre of your work. Working down and to the left tie 4 DHHKs. Tie a DHHK with the two middle cords. Working down and to the right tie 3 more DHHKs. Move back to the middle and working down and to the left tie 3 more DHHKs. We will now complete the bottom of the diamond. Using the same filer cord tie 3 DHHKs working down and to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. Using the filler cord on the left tie 3 DHHKs working down and to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. This design crosses the left side over the right side so to do that use the 2 inner left cords as your filler cords and tie 2 DHHKs with each. Using the 6th cord from the left as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working down and to the left. Using the same filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working down and to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. Using the 4th cord from the left as your filler cord tie 1 DHHK working down and to the left. Use the same filler cord and tie 1 DHHK working down and to the right. Large Diamond Using the 9th cord from the right tie 8 DHHKs working down and to the right. Tie another row of DHHKs underneath the previous row. Repeat that same process on the left side of your work. We will create a small design in the middle of the big diamond. Using the 8th cord from the left as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. Tie one more DHHK to connect the sides. We will continue to tie DHHKs to create this shape. Using the same filler cord tie 2 more DHHKs working to the left. Repeat on the right side of your work. Using the same filler cord tie 2 more DHHKs working to the left. Repeat on the left side of your work. Tie a DHHK to connect the two sides then 2 more DHHKs on both sides to repeat the pattern from above. Tie 2 more rows of DHHKs on both sides of your work to complete the big diamond and then we will repeat the pattern from above to finish off the design. Using the inner right cord as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs moving down and to the left. Repeat with the outer right filler cord. Small Diamond Using the 4th cord from the left as your filler cord tie 1 DHHK moving to the left. Using the same filler cord tie 1 DHHK working to the right. Using the 6th cord from the left as your filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working to the left. Using the same filler cord tie 2 DHHKs working to the right. Repeat on the right side of your work. Finish it off using the same process you used to create the first diamond. Thanks so much for watching!
