The Eurasian coot belongs to the rails (Rallidae) and is within this taxon related to the crakes and gallinules. This coot is very common and lives in and around waters such as ponds, stream pools and lakes. It prefers nutrient-rich water and is quite flexible concerning other aspects of its environments. Ideally it favours a mixture of reeds, smaller mounds, wet grasslands and bushes. The specimens presented here were filmed in the big pond of the Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, Germany. Only
