The 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver is one of the most easily recognized firearms in history. It was used by cowboys on the Texas frontier, the Texas Rangers, and the United States Army from 1873 until the turn of the century. This pistol was revolutionary because loading the weapon no longer required measuring and loading gunpowder. This video is part of the “Firearms of the Texas Frontier” exhibit running October 15, 2014 through April 15, 2015 at the Alamo. For more information .
