This small studio apartment is in the 16th district of Paris, and it covers an area of 12.7 square meters only which is equal to 136 square feet. There is a common hallway with a bathroom and a shower that is shared by the other studios in the building. We hoped that the flat would have a full kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. I wanted to make sure the person who would be moving in here had a comfortable and attractive home, as well as enough living spaces. I invested a lot of time on the new building plan to make sure it met everyone's requirements and gave us the space we had always dreamed of. We deliberated over every dimension of the structure that we may save as much room as possible. Previously, a single 1-meter wall separated the kitchen from the rest of the apartment. I extended that wall by 40 centimeters to make the bathroom more usable. We now have a fully equipped bathroom with a shower, toilet, sink, and cabinet-sized mirror. Making this bathroom reality was a significant undertaking. Since the apartment was not built with plumbing and drainage for a toilet and shower in mind, we had to replace the pipes and figure out a way to drain the waste. To avoid unnecessary obstruction, I installed a sliding door in the bathroom. The space between the kitchen and bathroom wall is where the sliding door was installed. It helps us to save more space. We used the previous kitchen’s cabinets but we changed the sink and the table. Now we have a fully equipped kitchen with a freezer, a microwave, and a cooker which are big advantage for this size apartment. We installed a mirror that resembles the sliding door's appearance and improves the area's beauty. We improved the attractiveness of the walls by creating some decorations and shelves. There needed to be a dedicated study space, therefore we built a floating table that can also serve as a dining table. Considering the size of the table, we painted the wall a lovely shiny color to serve as a divider. The bed was set up in a distinct area from the rest of the space by installing the dressing closet closely after the kitchen then we renewed and reinforced it to keep it in good condition and shape. For this apartment, we selected a bed that doubles as a couch by day and a bed at night. It has the potential to become a double bed, suitable for two people, and it is accompanied by three spacious drawers. The energy and heating efficiency of the apartment was very poor with only one old wooden window remaining in the building and we replaced it with a double glass PVC window. In order to have enough storage for books and personal items, we installed some beautiful cabinets in the walls as the finishing touch to our interior design. We completed this project in exactly one month.
