The instrument shown off in this video is the morin khuur, a horse-head fiddle. It's a 2-stringed bowed instrument with strings made from horse tail hair, and the head is usually sculpted to look like a horse's head, hence the name. When we were in the South Gobi, we saw a Mongolian music group. After having seen the performance, we decided to try and work towards bringing them over to the UK for a couple of weeks next summer so that their talents and Mongolia are better appreciated.
