Reel 2: French intertitle. The village of Catastage (?) Views of the forest landscape. Men travel through the landscape on horseback and in a cart pulled by tractors. Logs are sent down a hillside. A large log travels very fast downhill. Men at the top of the hill push the logs down. They use levering tools to set them on their way. C/U of the tools used and of a man's feet as he walks along a log. A chute constructed from logs is illustrated. A man walks down the chute throwing something on the logs to make them slippery. Shot of log travelling down a very long chute. It eventually gathers enough momentum to travel uphill and then down again - effectively turning a corner. Top shots of men moving logs with hand tools, pulleys, winches etc. A large log is transported through the air on cables. A moving shot of the cable system from the point of view of the log!
