From 1994-1997 Fabio hosted a seminal radio show on Kiss FM. He would alternate each show with Grooverider and it was the first time jungle was played on legal radio. It was essential listening for music that wouldn't normally get played out, or even heard again! These shows were a window into another world and fresh 90-minute TDKs on hot standby was standard procedure. For the second hour of the show, Fabio would announce “The Jazzstep coming up next...“, and after a few months it became “The Legendary Jazzstep...“ - this was big! The music was jazz-influenced and driven by funk breaks, which tended to be quite loose with the patterns. It was a golden era before things got stripped back to more surgical timings seen with liquid, it also made the sound feel more organic and musical.
