A very big bird is flying nearer and nearer. He begins to run away. ‘Now I understand!’ he thinks, ‘That bird is a Roc, and that big white stone is a Roc’s egg.’ The Roc sits on the egg and then it goes to sleep. Sinbad takes off his turbanand he puts it around the Roc’s leg. ‘When the Roc flies away, I can leave the island too,’ he thinks. In the morning, the Roc flies away.
