In this session, we meet with sacred chant singer Deva Premal and her partner Miten as they share the depth of spirituality that can come from mantra and chant. Deva points out that the power of the chanting is in its ability to access a meditative place of inner silence. Deva Premal was born in Germany and grew up in an atmosphere of mantra and spiritual discipline. By the time she was five years old she was already chanting the Gayatri Mantra daily. At an early age, she was on a spiritual quest and became a disciple of the Indian mystic Osho. She went to live in his ashram and began her studies of the healing arts. There she met Miten who was one of Osho’s musicians. Eventually they joined forces and recorded her sacred chants. They have traveled the world, sharing their sacred music and meditative mantras. Miten grew up in the 1960s in England and for a time pursued a successful career as a singer/songwriter. When he became disillusioned with the rock scene, he began an inner search which led him into the world of meditation. He met the rebel mystic Osho and went to live in his ashram in India where Miten led groups in sacred music. There he met his wife-to-be, Deva Premal and together they have released a number of popular chant CDs. They tour worldwide performing and teaching workshops on mantra and sacred chant.
