USPA Absolute Altitude State Record for Illinois claimed. On Tuesday, 20 September 2022, skydivers Ed Conway, Dr. Bill Helvey, and Thomas Oquinns, jumped from the West Tennessee Skydiving Cheyenne 400, piloted by Mike Mullins with Paul Gholson as Oxygen Jumpmaster, from an altitude of 41,000' over the Carmi Municipal Airport, Carmi, IL. Exit altitude temperature was -57C, winds at altitude were 65 mph. The jump went very well, all jumpers landed on target, only glitch was Bill Helvey had a malfunction, but his cutaway canopy landed in the middle of the ramp, right in front of the staging area. This record will be submitted to USPA for official recognition. We are looking to set the Florida state record next, anyone interested?
