In 2002, some Falun Gong practitioners in Chongqing, China, managed to hijack a Chinese state run TV signal and air footage countering the CCP's propaganda of Falun Gong. One of those practitioners was Daxiong, a world-renowned comic book artist, who, unlike most others, managed to escape alive and flee to the US. The movie Eternal Spring is a suspenseful and gut-wrenching retelling of that true story, beautifully illustrated by Daxiong's own pen and turned into 3D animation. It is the first documentary, first animated film, and first Mandarin-language film to be nominated by Canada for the Oscars (best international feature). We sat down with the film's director, Jason Loftus, to discuss the making of the film, Daxiong's story, and the persecution of Falun Gong. Eternal Spring opens at Film Forum in New York City on Oct. 14, and at 32 AMC theaters across the US on Oct. 21. For more info and for international screenings, visit YouTube demonetizes ou
