The Historical God Nodens, His Shrine at Lydney Park, His Link to King Lud and Father of Gwn Ap Nudd

Nodens has a shrine dedicated to him at Lydney Park in Gloucester that dates back to 3BC. He was a God of healing, the sea, and of hunting. Many scholars accept he was also the inspiration behind the Lludd Llaw Eraint (Lludd of the Silver Hand) who was mentioned in the Welsh Triads and later through Geoffrey of Monmouth became the legendary King Lud founder of London. Mythologicaly, LLudd / Nudd was the father of Gwyn Ap Nudd King of Annwn (The Other World) and later king of the Tylwyth Teg or “The fair folk“.
