Miners' Rescue Station, Wakefield, Yorkshire. M/S van appears, doors open and man in rescue kit jumps out. Rear door opening and men in uniform unload rescue gear. Rescue men crossing interior hall. C/U men donning masks and mouthpieces, they help each other. Team captain notes names of crew and checks equipment. Team making last adjustments, then they all turn right and file out. Captain opens door to tunnel, team enters. Captain testing for gas, hands lamp to other crew member. All file in tunnel except for two men in uniform. C/U man in uniform holding box, it is apparatus to track crew once underground. Below ground. Line of men drop to knees to enter tunnel, one holds reel of cable. Men file past camera, one unwinding cable. Men emerging from tunnel. Leader on knees, others climbing over small wall. Pan to casualty lying in rubble. C/U injured man's head, hands tending him.
