If you were to guess who is the couturier in the truest sense of the word, which name would you think of. Balenciaga is the couturier who once gained compliments as “Master of Us All” by a fashion house founder, and “My Idol” by his peers. From June to September 2019, the exhibition “Balenciaga and Spanish Painting” opened at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. This was the very first major exhibition in Madrid dedicated to Balenciaga in the past 50 years. You can not only enjoy some 90 haute couture garments designed by Balenciaga, but also get to enjoy more than 50 Spanish artworks from the most famed Spanish master painters. Among these, El Greco, Zurbarán and Goya had the greatest impact on Balenciaga. Tap the video above for the dialogue between fashion and art.
