The Jim Hall Trio played the Village Vanguard in NYC for a week in May, 1987 in which Bill Frisell was listed as “special guest“ (making it a quartet). Frisell had studied with Hall when he attended Berklee College of Music and now here were student and teacher heading an engagement at the famous Village Vanguard. It was an intimate setting and I attended two sets and was able to capture their playing in all of its subtleties. The newspaper clipping was the advertisement for the gig in the Village Voice. Part two will be uploaded in the near future. Jim Hall - guitar Bill Frisell - guitar Joey Baron - drums Steve LaSpina - bass The tunes: 00:00 Hide and Seek 9:30 Indian Summer 19:30 Resistor (B.
